How To Be A Parent

Who knows lol Where do you start- when they are younger you try so hard to mold your little one into the person you wish them to be.  Somewhere along the line they grow up and no longer fit into your mold.  It is not easy teaching, coaching and developing kids into productive young adults.  So often there is a sense of entitlement- that comes with giving your child the proverbial 'world'- sheltering them from harm and keeping them from enduring the dangers of urban life.  So now you've created a suburban nightmare! lol. Little mini me's who throw tantrums- yes teenagers throw tantrums'; and as much as you would like to uppercup them; we still must deal with patience and love.  Not an easy task when your little one is now towering over you; somehow you must still show them who's the boss, and I'm not talking about Rick Ross...I'm talking about US- the parent.  We toil at our jobs, labor at home with a result that is not guaranteed.  So how does one become a good parent? The answer cannot be reduced to any one explanation- good parenting is understanding who's the parent and who's the child and how it all relates to a glass of your favorite cocktail at the end of the day :-)

The 'Great' in Great

Everyone aspires to some level of greatness. Greatness inspires the person within and what you present to the world.  You can be the greatest cook, greatest fashionista, greatest husband/wife,gf/bf, greatest friend- but even in great there can be some darkness.  You can be the greatest liar, the greatest hypocrite and the greatest imposter.  Aspire to be the GREAT in great!! Happy Friday~ I am so ready for a GREAT weekend with my girls!

Vanity and Friendship

Here's one for all the 'friends' we have who need confirmation of their beauty, of their material possessions and that they are overall quite flawless lol...Really? If you are looking for me to tell you that you are beautiful, that every man is after you and that everyone is jealous of you- then look further....i am not the friend to validate your vanity; I will however tell you that there is obviously more to life than a 'good look'. Enlighten me on what book you just read, what you are doing to help the homeless or battered women in your community, how many organizations you have signed with to spread public awareness regarding social issues.  If you cannot complete a sentence without mentioning yourself- sorry I'm not interested in befriending you or continuing to be your friend.  Your love affair with yourself is a constant; your friendship with me is the past.
